Honestly, coming across fine art is kind of like wining at a game of chess. You have to try hard to appreciate ‘the game,’ you have to have some kind of experience to understand your opponent, and you have to have a soul to hear the melody of the battle. For the record, I am terrible at chess, but I enjoy it, as well as I am terrible at painting or drawing or anything kind of visual at that I might have to create with my bare hand, film is fine, but canvas…

What's up Matador?

I realize that this may be old news for some but, Matador Records is easily one of, if not, my favorite record label. I have had an on going affair with the label since the late 80’s/early 90’s, and it’s still as hot as ever. This compilation from last year is fantastic, and is available on their blog too, so don’t feel bad about downloading it!

Also, Toronto band Fucked Up! Is featured in the compilation, there great, and I would suggest to you to go see them live if they are in your area.

MYLO... Is he back?

Do you guys remember MYLO? I know I do. I lived in Edinburgh Scotland for a couple of years just as he was becoming popular on a larger scale. I saw him DJ and perform with his band in that time, and let me tell you, each time was memorable, some, for different reasons... At any rate, it seems that he has remixed his number one hit this year, which looks like it's a teaser to his fans that an album is in the works. I hope so.

Huoratron!!!

Huoratron is the alias of up and coming Helsinki-based Finnish musician Aku Raski when making techno music live on stage by blending electroclash with 8-bit and a sturdy bass. Since the release of $$ Troopers, Huoratron is becoming increasingly popular. He has played at the 2007 Blip Festival and has started touring Europe (a.o. Latvia, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and France. (Thanks Wikipedia!)
